Residential Director of Studies positions available for summer school in the UK and Ireland.

MLA is currently recruiting professional EFL teachers for residential and non-residential Easter and Summer posts in the UK and Ireland. Experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with young learners/teens and see how they develop their communication skills and enjoy a life-changing learning experience.

 

Contracts available for Summer from mid to late June through to mid-August for 4 weeks with the possibility of an extension

Locations: Central London, London Uxbridge, London Richmond, London Guildford, Reading, Worcester, Dover, Edinburgh, Dublin, and Galway.

 

At MLA we have been running successful language courses for Italian students in the UK, Ireland and USA since 1976. As a DoS, you will be responsible for the high-quality and smooth running of the academic programme to ensure the overall success of the course. You will lead and manage a diverse team of teachers, provide training and professional development opportunities.

DoS is a residential position. Staff work a 6-day week with one 24-hour period off per week. You will not be required to do any pastoral care outside your general DoS duties. However, you are encouraged to communicate with your centre manager and group leaders to contribute to the overall success of the programme. Summer programmes are challenging, and you might be requested to assist outside your working hours.

Person Specification: Director of Studies

Essential:

First degree

Cambridge DELTA, Trinity LTCL Diploma TESOL or MA in Linguistics/TESOL (incl. 5 hours supervised teaching practice)

Minimum 3 years' EFL teaching experience with young learners/teens

Leading and management experience (experience in management and leading a team)

Ability to motivate and encourage teachers to adapt the academic programme

Experience observing, appraising, and giving feedback to teachers

Excellent administrative / ICT skills

Ability to manage data and make decisions

 

UK CENTRES: Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK

IRELAND CENTRES: Must have EU passport/right to work in the EU/Ireland

 

Desirable:

Previous experience with Summer Schools

Experience as a teacher trainer

Experience in teaching monolingual face-to-face groups

Salary and Benefits

UK DoS from GBP 620 per week, plus 12.07% holiday (GBP 693)
IRELAND DoS from EUR 620 per week
Returning managers will receive a bonus of 150 GBP/EURO upon contract completion.
